Educational and Child Psychology
What I do
I am a practitioner psychologist who has worked with children and families for over 18 years. My training as an Educational and Child Psychologist has enabled me to
work directly with children
provide training to parents, staff in settings (early years, alternative provision, primary schools, secondary schools and further education colleges), to local authority staff supporting care experienced children and youth justice, and to NHS staff.
contribute towards policy briefings and position papers
provide expert witness support
write articles for the media
I am to translate my research and practice-based knowledge into information that is accessible and easy for parents, carers and professionals to understand and implement.
My experience at work and as a parent has taught me that not all children like to sit down and talk. When sitting down and working on activities is hard for a child, I have been known to do keepy-uppies, take a walk to the park, draw, and to sit through a make up tutorial to get the best from the children I work with.
My goal is to help ensure that each child gets to learn, grow and connect to the fullest - whatever that looks like for them.
“Every child deserves a champion - an adult who will never give up on them. Who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.”
